Quebec and Nunavut Region
The Regional Champion is an executive named by the Chair of the Regional Federal Council and represents the region on the National Managers’ Community ADM Advisory Board. The role of the Regional Champion is to ensure that regional executives are engaged and the voice of managers is heard and profiled, while also providing the NMC Regional Lead and Steering Committee Chairs/ Co-Chairs with strategic advice and guidance.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
Nawal Benzaid has been Regional Director for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Quebec & Nunavut Regional Office since December 2019.
Nawal has been with AAFC for the past 19 years. She has held positions within the Market and Industry Services Branch at regional, national and international levels. She was Industry Development Officer (2002-2009), Senior Policy Analyst with the Market Access Division (2009-2011) as well as Trade Commissioner and Regional Advisor for the Agriculture and Agri-Food Sector in the Middle East and North Africa Region (2011-2015) at the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai. Nawal was also the Deputy Director of the Quebec Regional Office (2015-2019). Prior to joining the Department, Nawal worked at “L’Union des producteurs agricoles’’ (Agricultural Producer Union) as a student and then as a Marketing Officer.
Nawal holds a Master's Degree in Rural Economics from Laval University and a Graduate Degree in Business Administration from Lincoln International Business School in Paris, France.
The Regional Lead collaborates, liaises and provides support and advice to Steering Committee Chairs/ Co-Chairs and members in their respective Regions. They represent NMC at events, including Regional Federal Council meetings and other horizontal senior level communities, advocating on issues of importance to managers.

The Steering Committee is comprised of managers who represent their department/agencies. The Committees hold monthly/quarterly steering committee meetings. They provide a source of intelligence and feedback of information from the departments/agencies about manager issues and innovations. The committee members communicate the information about NMC activities and opportunities to Managers in their respective departments/agencies and participate in developing, implementing and monitoring of the provincial action plan which reflects the strategic objectives of the NMC.
